Industry Editor- Cloud/DevOps

TechTarget's Cloud/DevOps Media Group is seeking an Industry Editor to write and edit content related to cloud computing and IT operations technologies for an IT and business professional audience. The Industry Editor will write and edit reported feature stories on a range of cloud and IT operations topics, write how-to or business advice articles on the use of cloud technologies and support TechTarget's ESG division with market research.

The Industry Editor will also provide support and guidance to a team of site editors, helping them identify important technology trends and coordinate topic planning. This position also will include updating packages of content on cloud computing topics that keep readers up to date on wide-ranging market trends. Attention to detail and deadlines, strong organizational and analytical skills, creativity, and flexibility are also essential to success in this role.

Essential job functions:

  • Plan and execute how-to articles about cloud computing and IT operations technology;
  • Conduct interviews and research to write compelling content for an IT and business professional audience;
  • Coordinate and organize video interviews or webinars with industry experts;
  • Follow and understand relevant technology market trends;
  • Summarize and analyze the findings of IT market research reports;
  • Collaborate closely with site editors, executive editors and the editorial director to identify important technology trends, coordinate topic planning and help set strategic site direction;
  • Perform search engine optimization (SEO) research and implement evolving SEO strategies;
  • Attend relevant industry events virtually, locally and nationally, as needed.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • Understanding of IT market trends, particularly related to cloud computing and IT operations technologies required;
  • Experienced technical writer or journalist with solid analytical skills;
  • Comfortable being on camera or public speaking;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven online publishing environment;
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably journalism, English or computer science;
  • 7 to 15 years experience writing or editing for a technical audience;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team;
  • Capable strategic and tactical thinker;
  • Understanding of search engine optimization best practices a plus (training provided);
  • Solid organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
